Three Generations on Riverport Road

Norfeld Building Supply has been a fixture of Chattanooga's construction trade since 1962. We're still family-owned, still stock the yard ourselves, and still believe a straight answer is worth more than a sales pitch.

Our Story

1. 1962

   Founding member Walt Norfeld opens a single lumber shed on Riverport Road, selling framing lumber to local homebuilders.

2. 1978

   The yard expands to include concrete, block, and masonry supply as Chattanooga's construction industry grows along the river.

3. 1995

   Second generation takes over daily operations and adds a dedicated roofing and hardware department.

4. 2016

   Third generation of the Norfeld family joins the business, modernizing inventory systems while keeping the same yard crew culture.

5. Today

   Norfeld Building Supply remains independently owned, serving contractors and homeowners across the Tennessee Valley.
